What Signtone Does

Signtone is an audio-based event check-in app. When you attend an event, your device listens for a short ultrasonic tone played at the venue. That tone identifies the event - no QR codes, no manual entry.

What We Collect

We collect only what's needed to register you for events:

• Account info - your name and email when you sign up.
• Audio signal data - a short audio clip (a few seconds) sent to our server to decode the event tone. We do not record speech or conversations. The clip is processed and discarded immediately.
• Registration records - which events you checked into and when.
• Device info - basic device type and OS version for debugging.

What We Don't Collect

• We do not record or store ambient audio, conversations, or background sounds.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or location.
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

Microphone Use

Signtone requests microphone access solely to detect ultrasonic event tones. Listening is active only while the app is open and the listener is running. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings.

How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely on MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest and in transit. Our backend runs on Railway with HTTPS enforced on all endpoints.

Third-Party Services

• MongoDB Atlas - database hosting (data stored in cloud).
• Railway - backend hosting.
• Apple App Store / TestFlight - app distribution.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Signtone is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via email.
